The QuikTrip Corporation, more commonly known as QuikTrip (QT), is an American chain of convenience stores based in Tulsa, Oklahoma that primarily operates in the Midwestern, Southern, and Southeastern United States as well as in Arizona.
The first QuikTrip was opened in 1958 in Tulsa by Burt Holmes and Chester Cadieux. The company expanded outside of Oklahoma in 1968, and started selling gasoline in 1971.
QuikTrip owns and operates over 950 convenience stores and gasoline service stations throughout sixteen states in the South, Midwest, and Southwest.
Around 20% of the privately-held company is owned by non-family members through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), while the Cadieux family controls most of the remainder.
QuikTrip expanded outside the Tulsa area to Wichita, Kansas City, and Des Moines. One of the secrets of Cadieux’s success was that he paid his store managers much higher than the industry standard, attracting quality workers to the company.
Also, he reduced overhead by using vendor jobbers for stocking inventory.
In the early 1970s, Cadieux changed the product selection at QuikTrip stores. QuikTrip began to sell gasoline in 1971 as states legalized self-service stations.
Cadieux eliminated slow-moving merchandise from his inventory, such as canned vegetables, and stocked a larger quantity of items, priced low for high-volume sales, such as beer, soda, coffee, cigarettes, and candy.
The company expanded its capacity for gasoline sales in 1980, including the introduction of a private label brand of gasoline, Redline. The company added more pumps at existing stations and installed canopies over the pumps to protect customers from the sun and rain.
In order to accommodate gasoline sales, QuikTrip relocated over 100 stores between 1982 and 1988.
The company also decided to give QuikTrip stores a new, more vibrant look. QuikTrip replaced the earth tone exterior and interior with a bright red.
The interior decoration featured red countertops and a red quarry tile floor; almond tile on the walls interspersed with painted red sections of the walls to create contrast.
QuikTrip Money Order
QuikTrip does offer money order service all over the stores in different locations and they are available at any QT store branch.
QuikTrip (QT) sells Western Union money orders but doesn’t cash money orders. Note that you can only pay for a money order with cash; you can’t use a debit card, credit card, or gift card. They only receive payment by cash alone.
Most QT locations are open 24 hours. However, money order services aren’t available at all times. You can generally purchase a money order between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. QT does sell money orders seven days a week, including Sundays.
If you purchase a money order from QT and you no longer need it, you can request a refund from the issuer and it will cost you $15 and $30 as long you still have your receipt for you to be able get a refund.
This is why it is advised to keep the receipt given to you at the QuikTrip checkout or make a copy of it.

Getting a money order at QuikTrip is a simple process that involves visiting a location that offers money orders and requesting one from the cashier.
Customers will need to provide the amount of the money order and the recipient’s name and address.
QuikTrip Money Order Fees
QT charges a money order purchase fee of $1.50 for each $300. For example, a $500 money order would cost $3 in fees.
